About The Florist Wrap Shop
Sustainable Packaging
Our approach
The Florist Wrap Shop was born out of Decowraps — a packaging company based in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands, at the heart of the European flower trade. For over 25 years, Decowraps has been working to make the floral packaging industry more sustainable. That commitment is built into everything we bring to you through The Florist Wrap Shop.
"The switch to sustainable packaging is an answer to the current climate crisis, and a necessity from a business point of view. It is time we start embracing sustainability to keep enhancing special moments for generations to come." — Decowraps
Sustainability at TFWS works on three levels: the materials we choose, the certifications we hold, and the people behind our supply chain. Below you'll find the full picture.
Innovative eco materials
Silphie paper
Made from fibres of the Silphium perfoliatum plant — a perennial crop cultivated in Germany with no pesticides. The plant flowers for months, supporting pollinators and local ecosystems. Its fibres are blended with recycled fibres to create a smooth, natural paper that is fully recyclable.
- Grown locally in Germany — low transport emissions
- Supports biodiversity and soil health
- Perennial crop — usable for at least 10 years
- Requires minimal pesticides and fertilisers
- Fully recyclable in paper recycling streams
- Winner of the Greenovation Award 2024
Paperwise
Made from at least 80% agricultural crop waste — the stems, husks, and fibres left after harvesting wheat, rice, sugarcane, and other crops that would otherwise be burned or left to rot. No new trees. Just plant residues given a second life.
- 80–100% agricultural waste — no virgin wood pulp
- 47% better for the environment than conventional paper
- Saves up to 756 kg CO₂ per 1,000 kg vs recycled paper
- Fully recyclable and compostable
- Food-safe (ISEGA certified)
- Supports farmers in India, Colombia, and China
Bio-LDPE
A plant-based alternative to conventional plastic film, derived from sugarcane. The sugarcane is converted to ethanol, then into the same PE polymer used in standard LDPE — but with a carbon-negative footprint. 96% biobased content, certified under the ASTM D6866 international standard.
- 96% biobased content from sugarcane
- Carbon-negative raw material — absorbs more CO₂ than it emits
- 100% recyclable with standard plastics recycling
- 80% of production powered by green energy
- Carries the I'm Green seal
Recycled plastic films
Our recycled film range (RBOPP and RPP) uses post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) — plastic that has already been used, collected, cleaned, and reprocessed into new film. Up to 90% of the material is reclaimed. These films perform identically to standard OPP and BOPP.
70% PCR Recycled OPP — Matt
A matt-finish roll made from 70% post-consumer recycled plastic. Same handling as standard OPP — just with a dramatically lower environmental footprint. Available in 35 mic, the everyday standard for bouquet wrapping.
